I don't know that I've ever seen rhubarb flower. I don't have any of my own and it never did well at my parents so, while I like it, I haven't been around it much. Hmmm....

My mother in law told me to tear off the seed stalk, considering she has done rhubarb for years, I am going with her advice.
Judy - When I lived in Ohio, we always got some wild Rhubarb that grew in ditches. I never noticed it flowering either.
MJ - Thanks for the info! I'll do that.
In Ipswich, England I grow a variety of rhubarb which does not flower so I have a high yield. Other allotment holders choose other varieties without giving reasons for their choice. A friend has bugs eat the leaves of his rhubarb.I went onto the website to find out which bugs and how to eliminate the problem
